Verity Beau Hunk: Timothée Chalamet

Relatively unknown until his « coming out » in Call me by Your Name ; Chalamet, age 23, is a charming, chiseled, intellectual looking beau hunk*.  He is also a French American actor who is currently starring in several critically acclaimed independent coming of age movies.

 

The one that catapulted him to fame, remains perhaps his best, the wonderful Call me by your name  written by the legendary James Ivory, and directed by Italian director Luca Guadagnino. It tells the story of the pensive and sophisticated 17 year old eurobrat and his secret love of the sexy older male American student his Father has employed as his assistant during the Summer Holidays in Italy. Unfortunately Verity missed the Paris press conference by twenty four meagre hours, but we would have paid hard earned euros to touch that leather clad boy. Timothée who has been described by one youtuber as a «work of art» or as «a young Daniel Day Lewis» by Lady Bird and Little Women co-star Saoirse Ronan, literally haunts the screen during this deeply romantic Italian hommage to quality French cinema.

 

 

After the film’s unexpected success, and having watched the entire American talk-show circuit he did with the film and the myriad of online video interviews, where he professes his straightness, we realise there’s not much left to know about Timothée. He recites the same anecdotes in nearly every interview as if he has been told by a a big bad PR agent that he is not allowed discuss anything else other than his New York High School Laguardia, the rap video he made for maths class and how awkward it was to be told to kiss another man. But who is the real Timmy Tim? Hailing from a sophisticated New York family, spending summers between France and the US, he has a tendency to only have romantic relationships with the daughters of famous actors and pop stars.

Failing that, you could also buy yourself a test tube of Hollywood blue blood on the Dark Web and inject it into your lips all the while praying that he doesn’t see beyond the botox. When in Paris, he hangs out with cool artistic people like the actor director Louis Garrel (please write to us for Louis’ exact home address).

 

But let’s face it, Timothée doesn’t need Paris, he already has it all. Including Johnny Depp’s daughter, Lily Rose. Where else can he go now?  Another solar system? Now that we have heard him singing at the piano in A Rainy Day in New York, we think he could plausibly be the next lead in La La Land 2 and overthrow the mighty King Gosling. Who needs muscles when you have brains? He has already been nominated for an Oscar, been Woody Allen’s new boy muse and was the pansexual Pin-up of 2018, all the while playing a drug addict, a beautiful teen, a pained playboy, a sexy prince and a rich kid in acclaimed independent movies and period dramas. Will his modest flop of hair that shouts «But no one knew who I was 3 months ago»  protect him from the voracious gaze of a deeply superficial Hollywood ? Here’s hoping.
